Community groups are recipients of the following funding from the Invercargill Active and Creative Communities funding schemes (March 2011 round):
Subsidies or loans are available for sport, fitness and active leisure activities.

Read MoreThe Southland Regional Heritage Committee, a joint committee of the Invercargill City, Southland District and Gore District Councils, is responsible for the allocation of funding to groups undertaking heritage projects and to the region's smaller museums.
Read MoreTwo scholarships set up by the former Southland Community Arts Council are now administered by the Invercargill City Council. The scholarships help string and piano players to advance their studies and are allocated as funding allows.
