Creative Communities

Creative Communities Invercargill funding is available for community-based arts activities for people living in the Invercargill area.

Grants and guarantees against loss are available. The main criteria for this funding is that the project must increase community participation in the arts at a local level and/or increase the range and diversity of art available in the community.

2011-2012 applications

Applications for projects that start after October 21, 2011 are open and will close on March 30, 2012. Full details are on the downloadable application form:


September 2011 aloocations

  • NZ Association of Teachers of Singing - workshop for youth and teachers of singing  $1000
  • Spring Thomas - two children’s art classes  $350
  • Inspiring Stories Trust - to hold workshops and short films screening  $500
  • Bluff Drama Club - to hire equipment for annual production $3500
  • Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust - to assist with choreography for 2012 production $800
  • Southern Farmers Market - to engage professional performers at the market  $800
  • Invercargill City Charitable Trust - to assist with the Buskers Festival  $1500
  • Senior Net - to bring Patricia Payne to Invercargill for the Older Persons Expo  $500
  • A Creative Space Charitable Trust - to hold an exhibition  $600
  • PS National Convention 2012 - to subsidise 12 students to attend the convention  $4050

  • Foveaux Harmony Chorus, tutoring with international coach - $2,839
  • O’Byrne Jones and Alex Lindsay Scholarships, two scholarships for piano and violin players - $2,000
  • Hospice Southland Charitable Trust, artist in residence and exhibition - $1,500
  • Wayne Hill, exhibition - $516
  • First Church Buildings Conservation Trust, two organ recitals and master classes - $900
  • Dr Raymond White, recitals - $645

Creative Communities Assessment Committee

The Council has appointed volunteer representatives to the Creative Communities Invercargill Assessment Committee. The committee meets three times a year and is responsible for assessing Creative Communities funding applications which are sought in March and September.

The new committee consists of Raewyne Evans (Iwi representative), Margaret Allan, Pam Hewett, Karen Pringle, Gael Ramsay and Diane Fletcher (community representatives) and two City Councillors.
