Aiport

The Invercargill City Council is processing a request from Invercargill Airport Ltd for a Private Plan Change.

The initial submission period closed on November 2, 2010. Council is required to summarise the submissions lodged, publicly notify the availability of the summary and provide an opportunity for certain people to comment on, support or oppose the submissions lodged.  We refer to this second round of submissions as “further submissions”.

Bluff Pool

The Bluff Community Charitable Trust has commissioned a consultant to prepare a financial feasibility study and discussion document on the future of the Bluff Pool. The document is available for downloading.


WasteNet Southland: The Cocks report

At its meeting on July 6, 2010, the Council passed a resolution that sets the terms of reference for a peer review of WasteNet Southland. The resolution: "That the Invercargill City Council contacts Mr John Cocks of MWH to undertake a peer review of the work done by WasteNet to date; and that he consult with ICC Engineers; and that he consult with ICC waste contractors; and that he consider, and if necessary consult with, those relevant submitters to the Invercargill Long Term Council Community Plan process 2010; and that Mr Cocks then provide technical guidance to the Council decision making process, especially in relation to organic waste and recyclables; and that Mr Cocks will personally present a full report to Council on August 12, 2010."

Recent consultations

Invercargill Airport Ltd

Invercargill Airport Ltd has lodged applications to change two designations and a Private Plan Change to rezone land (relating to airport operations) under the Invercargill City District Plan. These proposals were publicly notified in the Southland Times on Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Invercargill Walking and Cycling Strategy 2010

The Council proposes to adopt the Walking and Cycling Strategy draft for consultation. The draft strategy has been developed for the Invercargill community showing how Council will encourage walking and cycling in the district.

Copies of the draft strategy will also available at the Council offices at 101 Esk Street, at the Bluff Service Centre, and at the Invercargill Public Library.

Otatara Sub-Area: Plan Change 9

Submissions on a change to the Invercargill District Plan affecting the Otatara Sub-Area closed on August 16, 2010. For information only, the following documents remain available for downloading:

Omaui Concept Plan

Comments were invited on the Omaui community's concept plan; consultation closed on July 30, 2010 and the plan was accepted by the Bluff Community Board and the Invercargill City Council the following month.

Signage boards and cemetery behaviour

The Council consulted the public on amendments to existing bylaws relating to deterring people from causing misconduct at cemeteries and to safer placement of signage boards (sandwich boards) on central city footpaths. Submissions closed on Tuesday, July 13.

Draft Annual Plan and LTCCP amendments

The Council has adopted its Draft Annual Plan for 2010-2011 and two amendments to the Long Term Council Community Plan. Submissions on the plan and the amendments closed on May 14. The links:
