Airport - Change of Designation 73 proposal
Invercargill Airport Limited has given notice of a requirement to alter the Approach and Land Use Controls Designation (Designation 73) as set out in the Invercargill City District Plan.
The approach and Land Use Controls Designation defines ‘obstacle limitation surfaces’ in airspace around the Airport to ensure the safe circulation and manoeuvring of aircraft. These surfaces regulate the permitted heights of buildings, structures and vegetation around the Airport.
The Notice of Requirement proposes to alter the designation to ensure the surfaces protect the full extent of the main runway (as a result of the 2005 extension). The enclosed plans entitled "Proposed Approach and Take Off Surfaces" (eastern and western end) show the extent of the designation.
