Effluent flow statistics for the Invercargill and Bluff Waste Treatment Plants:

This information is a guideline only. Volumes, treatment and disposal of sewage and wastewater can vary greatly which may be attributed to wet weather and seasonal industry such as fish and meat processing.

Clifton Waste Treatment Plant
The Clifton Waste Treatment Plant, Invercargill, receives sewage from about 50,000 people (and industrial effluent equivalent to a population of about 10,000. The average daily flow from the plant is 25,000 cubic metres, with a maximum permitted flow of 90,000 cubic metres.

Bluff Treatment Plant
The Bluff Treatment Plant receives sewage from about 2000 people and industrial effluent equivalent to a population of about 7500. The average daily flow from the plant is 1300 cubic metres, with a maximum permitted flow of 3850 cubic metres.
