Parks booking fees and forms
The Council encourages the use of the City’s parks and reserves for events.
Weddings, sports matches, festivals, carnivals, concerts and fairs all add to the spirit and vibrancy of our parks and the City as a whole.
All events, whether they are big or small, should be booked with the Parks Office using the Parks Booking form to avoid double bookings. School or educational groups who wish to book a guided tour through the Animal Reserve, Aviary or any other specific area within Queens Park should contact the Parks Office.
There are about 1000ha of public parkland available for organised events offering a range of options. Not all of these parks will be suitable or available for your particular event. Anyone considering holding an event on a public park should contact the Parks Office to discuss their requirements and options available to them.
Sports clubs requiring the use of game or practice fields must discuss their requirements and make a booking with the Parks Office well in advance of the season starting.
Queens Park, Anderson Park and Otepuni Gardens, Gala Street Reserve and Wachner Place are popular venues for formal gatherings. Other parks and reserves have different features and facilities that may be more suited to your event. For something a little different consider holding your event in one of the following parks:
Donovan Park, Bainfield Road, Invercargill
Contains sheltered picnic areas, toilets, and pond within attractive surroundings.
Sandy Point Domain, Dunns Road, Otatara
2000ha of parkland containing walking tracks through native bush, mountain biking tracks, horse riding tracks, sheltered picnic areas, toilets (including wheelchair accessible), Information Centre, playgrounds, access to the beach and Oreti River.
Seaward Bush, Mason Road, Invercargill
Contains a sheltered picnic area, walking tracks through regenerating native bush, wheelchair accessible toilet and car parking.
Thomson Bush, Queens Drive, Invercargill
Contains a sheltered picnic area, walking tracks through native bush, toilets, picnic tables, playground and car parking.
Event organisers should familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions before booking their event with the Parks Office.
