Russell Square

Russell Square is an important playground in the South City area.

The large playground provides many opportunities for both active and imaginative play and attracts children from all over. Picnic tables are available at the playground.

Russell Square is located on the corner of Elles Road and Balmoral Drive, near South City.

Playground Redevelopment and Upgrade

During 2007 Russell Square underwent a facelift to make the park more appealing and family friendly with safe but challenging play opportunities. The concept plan for the park was developed following consideration of the many issues raised by a diverse range of residents.

The upgraded flying fox and new climbing net have proven to be very popular features of the playground. A new basketball half court provides ball play opportunities and the extra swings are getting a lot of use. The toddler play equipment has been extended and grouped together with a new junior swing set. A path from Balmoral Drive has been added, as have new picnic tables.
