Property Numbers

Planning and Resource Management staff are responsible for allocating road names, urban street numbers and RAPID numbers.

RAPID numbers

RAPID is short for Rural Area Property Identification. All rural properties are given an identification Number based on the location of their access point on the road boundary. The purpose of the RAPID system is to ensure quick and accurate location of rural properties by emergency services and the public. Many rural property owners have incorporated their RAPID identification into their postal address. If you have moved or repositioned your property access point (driveway) you will need to contact the Council to see if your RAPID number is affected.

Street numbers

The department staff also allocate new street numbers. If you plan to subdivide your property you should contact the Council about the allocation of new numbers. Interim numbers are allocated until property access points are confirmed.

Street and road names

The Council determines new road names at the time of subdivision. Developers are encouraged to suggest possible names for consideration.
