Resource Consents
Under the Resource Management Act 1991, the Council has a responsibility to make sure that resources are managed sustainably - this means using them responsibly without adversely effecting the environment.
Any development or proposed use of a site must be assessed against the Council's District Plan.
Application for Resource Consent
See the online Resource Consent application forms and guidelines including the Resource Consents Guidelines booklet. The booklet provides useful information about Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE), preparing an AEE proposal, consulting with affected parties, and notified and non-notified resource consents.
Before lodging your resource consent application with the Council you need to ensure that you have completed the appropriate forms, include an assessment of any environmental effects of the proposal, any information specified by the District Plan, plans of your activity, obtain written approval from affected parties, and pay the appropriate resource consent fees.
Note: The Council may suspend your application if further information is required.
