Council jobs
Applications from people with the skills and experience for the position(s) advertised are welcome. Please read the application process page: it includes important information. Also, there is advice below about the Council, careers and educational courses.
Courses, careers and employment advice
The Council encourages new and existing employees to continue their education and personal growth, whether at tertiary level or courses on subjects such as customer service. For information on courses, tertiary study and qualifications contact the Council's Human Resources Department or the Southern Institute of Technology.
If you are a student, wishing to enter the workforce, or planning a career change we suggest that you talk to a careers adviser. Careers advisers can be accessed at local high schools, tertiary institutions, Work and Income Support, etc. Invercargill's Citizens Advice Bureau (phone 218 6648 or 0800 367 222) also has a list of careers advisers and employment agencies in the Southland area.
Alternatively you may wish to visit your local library to discover via books or the internet what jobs and career options are available to you. The Department of Labour's Careers Services website might also be useful.
