Council staff
The elected Council employs a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to head the corporate side of the organisation.
The CEO advises Councillors, implements their decisions and policies, and is also responsible for employing all staff and for ensuring their well-being at work. The current CEO is Richard King.
The Council and its staff work within areas known as directorates. The directorates each have a committee that includes Councillors and Council staff (the directors) who meet regularly to discuss issues and policies. The Directors are Dean Johnston (Finance and Corporate Services), Pamela Gare (Environmental and Planning Services) and Cameron McIntosh (Works and Services).
