The Council's cemetery database contains more than 50,000 entries for the four Invercargill and Bluff cemeteries and the Southland Crematorium. The search system, developed for the Council's Parks Department, makes it easy to find burial details: simply type in the person's surname and hit the search button. To refine the search you can add a forename or refine your search even further by specifying the cemetery and gender. The asterisk can be used as a "wildcard" to represent one or many characters in the surname and forename fields. Some examples: Lea* will find all names starting with the letters Lea; *urch will find names ending with the letters urch, and Lind* will find Lindseys and Lindsays. Note: Burt Munro's given forenames were Herbert James (not Burt or Bert). Data updated December 5, 2009
ACCURACY: The cemetery search section of the website is under continuous development by the Council's Parks Division. Every attempt has been made to ensure the data is accurate but your help to supply updates or provide additional information will be appreciated.
