- LISTEN TO YOUR RADIO FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION - | If you hear the Civil Defence siren turn on and listen to the nearest operating local radio station. Important messages from Civil Defence will be broadcast first on the following Southland radio stations: STATION | RADIO FREQUENCY | Classic Hits | 98.8FM | Hokonui Gold | 94.8FM | More FM | 89.2FM and 1224AM | Newstalk ZB | 864AM | Radio Southland | 96.4FM |
If none of these radio stations are on air in a major emergency, you are advised to tune to the station that you can receive with the strongest signal.
CIVIL DEFENCE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY CENTRES If there is an emergency or event that requires a Civil Defence response in your community, trained volunteers will be on duty at several locations in the Invercargill and Bluff area.
