District Plan Change 7 (private plan change)
Rural service sub-area - Coopers Corner The Invercargill City Council has received a request from Goldpine Properties Ltd ("Goldpine") for a Private Plan Change to create a Rural Service Sub-Area at 25 Wallacetown-Lorneville Highway and 812 North Road, Invercargill. Goldpine proposes to change the zoning of their properties to the south-west of Coopers Corner from Rural Sub-Area to Rural Service Sub-Area. The land affected comprises of 19.0501ha. The Rural Service Sub-Area is a new Sub-Area which aims to provide for a range of land uses that are primarily servicing the rural hinterland of the city. Council has heard submissions and further submissions and released their decision on December 13, 2008. The Council decided to approve the Plan Change subject to modifications. The District Plan has now been amended as per the decision. The Plan Change affects the objectives, policies, methods of implementation, definitions, appendices, and Planning Maps. There is now an appeal period where the applicant, submitters and further submitters have the opportunity to object to the decisions. If you are planning on developing within the new Sub-Area, please ensure you consult with the amended version of the District Plan or discuss your proposal with Council planning staff.

District Plan Change 8 Awarua Industrial Area - Proposed Rezoning
Plan Change 8 applies to land located adjacent to State Highway 1 at Awarua, located between the Mokotua Stream and Awarua Siding Road. The purpose of Plan Change 8 is to amend the classification of the land from Rural Sub-Area to Industrial A Sub-Area. New provisions are proposed to be added to the District Plan to provide for the Industrial A Sub-Area including objectives, policies, rules and associated explanations. Plan Change 8 also provides for the identification of the former Awarua Radio Station Historic Area and the inclusion of provisions in the District Plan to protect that area. A commissioner heard submissions and the decision was released on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.The decision is to approve the Plan Change subject to modifications.
