The Southland Aquatic Centre - Splash Palace - is one of the top public pool facilities in New Zealand.
The Invercargill centre's southern coastal theme makes it a fun place to visit and there are few communities in the world that can boast an indoor aquatic centre of this size within walking distance of the central business district and close to a large selection of motels and parks.
The facility includes a 50m x 8 lane sports pool with a bulkhead, a leisure pool with waves and sprays, a tots' pool and a learners' pool. There is also a water slide, spa pool, steam room and a cafe -- all indoors and with off-street car parking.

Saturday May 19 and Sunday, May 20: Waterpolo competition. Deep end closed

Friday, May 25: Murihiku swim meet, 6pm to 7.30pm. 6pm – 7.30 Deep end and half shallow end closed (limited lane space and aqua jogging)
June
Monday, June 4: Queen's Birthday hours, 11am to 4pm.
Saturday, June 23: Swim Southland carnival, 4pm to 8pm. Deep and closed.
Sunday, June 24: American waterpolo team practice. 9am to noon, 1pm to 4pm. Deep end closed.
Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30: South Island secondary schools swimming competition.
- Friday 6pm to 9pm. Limited aqua jogging and lane space.
- Saturday 8.30am to 11.30am and 3.30pm to 6.30pm. Deep end closed.
Aqua Zumba
Wednesdays 7.30pm - 8.15pm and Thursdays noon - 12.45pm: Splash Palace Aqua Zumba with Tanya McEwan. Jump into the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness party that makes working out a splash. Aqua Zumba costs $7.50 a class or 10 sessions for $67.50.
