High winds overnight have caused some disruption across Invercargill. Here's what you need to know:

✅ Queens Park is now open
Please take care if you're visiting today. There’s still a lot of debris and several fallen trees throughout the park. Our teams are hard at work clearing the area, so please give them space and watch your step.

⛔ Seaward Bush track and Ness Street/Russell Square – CLOSED

These areas will stay closed until at least Tuesday, when teams can properly assess the damage and make sure everything is safe.

✅ Anderson Park is now open.

✅ Walking track alongside Splash Palace is now open.

✅ Estuary walking track is now open.

✅ Invercargill Transfer Station will open tomorrow morning at the usual time (9am to 5.30pm).

Power outages

Tree damage and debris across parks and reserves

Several trees and branches have come down across our parks and reserves. Our teams are out assessing the damage and beginning clean-up but please take care if you’re out and about, be aware of your surroundings and avoid areas where there are fallen trees or overhanging branches.

Strong Wind Warning still in effect

Strong winds are expected to continue. Please take care, secure any loose items, and stay up to date via Emergency Management Southland.
