Pay your rates by direct debit
Paying by direct debit is the easiest way to manage your rates bill, and ensures you don't need to remember to pay before the due date.
You can choose the frequency of your payments to suit you; weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or quarterly.
How it works
After submitting direct debit authorisation form, you'll receive a letter confirming your bank account details, payment frequency, and start date. Your rates will be automatically debited out of your bank account. Any changes to your rates will automatically adjusted each year – you don't need to contact your bank.
You can request to change your method of payment or frequency of payment at any time.
Please note: it can take up to 10 working days to process direct debit authority requests.
Download and complete the direct debit authority form:
Email your completed form to service@icc.govt.nz
Or post your completed form to:

Or deliver your completed form to:

Every year we will automatically update your payment amount to reflect the rating charges for that year and will advise you of your new payment amount in writing.
If a payment is dishonoured, you will be required to make a manual payment to bring your account up to date. If more than one payment is dishonoured, we reserve the right to cancel your direct debit arrangement.
Multiple properties
Direct Debit applications for multiple properties using the same the bank account can be on the same form; however when using separate bank accounts you will need individual forms for each property.
Selling your property
If you have a direct debit in place and you sell your property, buy a new one, or complete a subdivision , please be aware that your existing direct debit will not automatically transfer to the new property.
As per standard council practice across New Zealand, direct debits are linked to the property , not the owner. When a property is sold, the associated direct debit is automatically cancelled to avoid incorrect charges.
To ensure your rates continue to be paid on time, you’ll need to contact us to set up a new direct debit for any new or subdivided property. If you are staying within the district and wish to transfer your existing arrangement (where allowed), please get in touch as soon as possible.
Buying a new property
If you purchase a new property, you will need to complete a new direct debit form – your direct debit will not be carried over to your new property.
