Dog attacks

We take reports of dog attacks very seriously. When you report a dog attack an animal control officer will be dispatched to investigate.

Sometimes, if the attack has already occurred and you are in a safe place, the investigating officer may arrange a time with you to make a formal statement. It’s best to do this as quickly as possible, as the officer will take photographs of any wounds or damage inflicted on you or your animals. You will also be asked for copies of any medical or vet receipts.

The officer will speak with the owner of the dog, and then discuss the matter with the Council’s managers.

We will keep in touch with you throughout our investigation, and you will always get a letter from us, explaining the course of action that we have taken.
